Seattle Yachts Sailing Academy, an American Sailing Association (ASA) affiliate school based in Anacortes, WA, can help you realize your dream of learning to sail, whether you are a beginner or experienced sailor.

Our friendly instructors have been certified by the ASA and are licensed as Captains by the US Coast Guard. They have a passion for passing on their love of sailing to students and have many years of experience teaching sailing.

Accelerate Skills Development

Experiential Education

All of our instructor-captains are USCG-licensed and ASA-certified.
SailTime supports the national recreational boating education standards as recognized by the United States Coast Guard.

ASA 101 Course

Students learn to sail on a boat approximately 20-27 ft in length, designed specifically for ASA 101 classes.

ASA 103 Course

Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered (inboard or outboard engine) keelboat of approximately 25-35 feet in length by day in moderate winds (up to 20 knots) and sea conditions.

ASA 104 Course

Students will learn to skipper a 30-foot 50-foot sloop-rigged charter sailboat during a multi-day liveaboard cruise on inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy wind and sea conditions.

ASA 105 Course

Learn to apply navigational theory and practices for safe piloting of a vessel in coastal and inland waters. This is a classroom-only course and no prior experience is required.

ASA 106 Course

Learn to skipper and navigate a 30-foot 50-foot sailing vessel in any conditions day or night. This is a challenging advanced course expecting the highest level of achievement.

ASA 114 Course

Students will learn to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 30-45 feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise

ASA 118 Course

This 1-day course is designed to practice docking in various wind and current angles. Learn basic theory and hands-on docking techniques needed to safely approach and depart in an efficient manner without damage or injury in an auxiliary powered sailboat.

ASA 101/103 Combo Course

Part One- 2 Day Lesson – 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day aboard our Beneteau 22 on Fidalgo Bay. Stay aboard the Hanse 388 overnight in Cap Sante Marina Thursday and Friday night.

ASA 103/104 Combo Course

The ASA 103/104 course is a 3-day, 2-night course covering the material of ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising and ASA 104 Bareboat Charter. 

ASA 218 Docking Endorsement Instructor

This one-day clinic is designed to verify your qualifications as an ASA 218 Docking Endorsement Instructor.

ASA 205 IQC-Coastal Navigation

ASA Coastal Navigation 205 candidates certify to teach the application of navigational theory and practices for safe piloting of a vessel in coastal and inland waters.

ASA 204 IQC-Bareboat Cruising Instructor Qualification Clinic

This one-day clinic is designed to verify your qualifications as an ASA Bareboat Cruising Instructor. You will learn to teach your students in a 3-day, 2 night lesson.

ASA 203 IQC-Basic Coastal Cruising

This one and one-half day clinic is designed to verify your qualifications as an ASA Basic Coastal Cruising Sailing Instructor. 

ASA 201 IQC-Basic Keelboat Sailing Instructor Qualification Clinic

This two and one-half day clinic is designed to verify your qualifications as an ASA Basic Keelboat Sailing Instructor.

Coastal Navigation (ASA-105) Evening Course

Learn to apply navigational theory and practices for safe piloting of a vessel in coastal and inland waters.

Basic Keelboat (ASA-101) Evening Course

Each evening students learn to sail on a Beneteau/ASA 22 designed specifically for ASA 101 courses.

ASA 104/114 Combo Course

The ASA 104/114 course is a 4-day, 3-night course covering the material of ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising and ASA 114 Cruising Catamaran Certification.

ASA 102 Course

Able to skipper and crew aboard a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 30 feet in length by day in winds up to 20 knots. Depart, sail, and return with control demonstrating teamwork.

AB 101 Beginner Powerboating Course

Provides essential training for safely operating a recreational powerboat, covering foundational skills in navigations, safety and boat handling.

AB 103 Intermediate Powerboating Course

Students continue building seamanship skills while learning about boat systems an dhow to handle emergencies. This is a 2 day course.

AB 104 Advanced Powerboating Course

Master the skills for multi-day cruising and coastal navigation.. This is a 2 days-1 night course.

AB 103-104 Advanced Powerboating Course

Three-days, two-nights Intermediate/Advanced Close Quarter Powerboat Handling and Coastal Cruising multi-day course.
