TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

We exclusively train on professionally maintained, new Beneteau and Jeanneau cruising-class boats—all five years old or newer and equipped with the latest modern options. Why? Because we believe that if your goal is to sail a large boat, you should learn on one. You’ll master skills on brand-new, fully functional, and completely outfitted modern rigs, the same you’ll find in leading charter fleets worldwide. We encourage you to schedule a private tour of our incredible facilities, staff and meticulously maintained fleet, allowing you to appreciate firsthand the quality and distinction that define us.
Our typical training day extends from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. We are dedicated to fostering lifelong learning, and for every sailor, from beginner to advanced, our focus is on cultivating robust and practical foundational skills that deliver lasting value. Expect unparalleled customer service from your initial contact until you complete your course, along with rigorously tested skills that exceed ASA standards, a personalized approach designed to meet your unique sailing goals. Experiential Education
Elevate your sailing proficiency with maximized helm time in our intimate classes, typically limited to 2-4 students. We champion immersive, hands-on learning, ensuring significant and valuable experience on the water. Together, we will tailor a learning plan aligned with your specific schedule, experience level, and goals.
All of our instructor-captains are USCG-licensed and ASA-certified.
SailTime supports the national recreational boating education standards as recognized by the United States Coast Guard.
ASA 101 Course
Students learn to sail a boat of about 20 feet in length in moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision.
ASA 102 Course
Able to skipper and crew aboard a sloop-rigged keelboat of approximately 20 to 30 feet in length by day in winds up to 20 knots. Depart, sail, and return with control demonstrating teamwork.

Learn to apply basic celestial navigation theory and practice to determine latitude and longitude at sea using a sextant and Nautical Almanac.
ASA 118 Course
This 2-day course is designed to teach anyone how to dock an auxiliary powered sailboat through both theory in class and techniques on the water.

Learn to observe and forecast weather conditions using traditional maritime skills and modern technology.
ASA 120 Online Course
Learn to properly use small-craft radar (or radar simulator) for piloting, navigation, and collision avoidance.

SailTime Houston Sailing School is now offering ASA 105, Coastal Navigation; ASA 107, Celestial Navigation; ASA 117, Basic Celestial Endorsement; ASA 119, Marine Weather Endorsement and ASA 120, Radar Endorsement as an online course through ASA and STARPATH. Learn at your own pace on your own schedule. Course pricing includes all materials, ebooks, books and ASA certification as well as gives students access to instructors who stand by ready to help as you move through the course in your timeline. Don’t have time for a traditional class here is a great option for you to continue to learn and progress into those advanced skills like many of our members have done before you.
