Fractional Boat Membership Franchise Leader Adds to List of National Recognitions as Pioneer in Sharing Economy Plans for Expansion into Europe
January, 2017 – SailTime, the world’s leading fractional boating membership program, with bases around the United States and Australia, today announced its inclusion in Entrepreneur Magazine’s 38th annual Franchise 500®. It is the third major honor within the last year for SailTime, following their inclusion in the INC 500/5000 in August 2016 and Entrepreneur’s recognition in 2017’s “10 Hottest Franchise Categories” in December 2016.
“All of us at SailTime are incredibly excited to be named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s prestigious Franchise 500,” SailTime CEO Todd Hess said. “This recognition is a fantastic way for us to kick off what we believe will be our best year yet as we aim to grow our international presence with new bases in Europe!”
SailTime has enjoyed growth of 161 percent since 2012, expanding to 28 franchise bases in the United States and six bases in Australia. Their recent partnership with Beneteau, one of the biggest and most respected boat manufacturers in the world, provided SailTime franchisees the opportunity to offer Beneteau boats for both the membership program and the boat ownership program. Three Beneteau yacht dealers in North America integrated with SailTime in 2016, and corporate officials are heading to Dusseldorf, Germany on January 21st to discuss integrating the SailTime franchise with Beneteau dealers in Europe.
“Beneteau has been a terrific partner with SailTime, so it’s only natural that we’d take the success we’ve had stateside in 2016 and look to expand the partnerships with our European boating friends this year.”
Over its 38 years in existence, the Franchise 500 has become both a dominant competitive measure for franchisors and a primary research tool for entrepreneurs. The key factors that go into Entrepreneur’s evaluation include costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability. All franchises are given a cumulative score based on more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500 in ranking order.
“Entrepreneurs in every industry must constantly improve and adapt, and our Franchise 500 list is full of success stories,” says Jason Feifer, editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur. “No matter what their concept is, these companies — from booming newcomers to established industry dominators — tell us a lot about what it takes to keep up with current trends in the business world.”

Years of Steady Growth in Booming Sharing Economy
Led to Inclusion on Prestigious List of Growing Companies
(August, 2016) – SailTime, the world’s leading boat membership program with bases around the United States and Australia, today announced its inclusion on the 2016 Inc. Magazine 500|5000 list of the top fastest-growing private companies in America. The list is considered the most comprehensive look at America’s independent entrepreneurs.
“We are honored to be recognized by Inc. Magazine for the years of steady growth we’ve seen at SailTime,” company CEO Todd Hess said, “Positioned perfectly within the popular sharing economy, I am confident in SailTime’s continued growth throughout the United States and the world.”
SailTime has enjoyed growth of 161 percent since 2012, expanding to 28 bases in the United States and six bases in Australia. Through their partnership with the American Sailing Association, they built the largest network of sailing education schools in America. They recently announced a partnership with Beneteau, one of the biggest and most respected boat manufacturers in the world, making Beneteau boats available for both the membership program and the boat ownership program at all SailTime locations.
The 2016 Inc. 5000, unveiled online at Inc.com and with the top 500 companies featured in the September issue of Inc. (available on newsstands August 23) is the most competitive crop in the list’s history. The average company on the list achieved a mind-boggling three-year growth of 433%. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue is $200 billion, and the companies on the list collectively generated 640,000 jobs over the past three years, or about 8% of all jobs created in the entire economy during that period. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000.
“The Inc. 5000 list stands out where it really counts,” says Eric Schurenberg, president and editor-in-chief at Inc. “No one makes the Inc. 5000 without building something great – usually from scratch. That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows.”
SailTime will be featured in the September issue of Inc. Magazine, which will be available on newsstands on Aug. 17. The company will also be honored at the Inc. 5000 Conference & Awards Ceremony, Oct. 18–20, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas.
Franchisee becomes latest Beneteau dealership to integrate with SailTime
June 17, 2015 (Annapolis, MD) – SailTime Group LLC, the world’s largest boat membership company, announced Stanton Murray as the new owner of the SailTime Tampa Bay franchise.
Murray has more than 30 years of experience in the marine industry. He is the President of Murray Yacht Sales, Inc., which specializes in the sale of new and used power and sailing vessels 30-60 feet in length. His company is the largest dealer of Beneteau sailboats in the Southeast market. Murray has also operated an American Sailing Association sailing school since 1983.
“SailTime has had a strong presence in the Tampa Bay boating market for 12 years, and I’m looking forward to leading this local franchise,” said Murray. “I believe my extensive background with charter and sailing schools will be a great resource to people in the Tampa-St. Pete area who have an interest in sailing and would like to become a part of the SailTime membership program”.
Murray’s franchise in Tampa Bay becomes the fourth Beneteau dealership to integrate SailTime into their product line within the last year, joining Marina Del Ray, Houston and Australia. Earlier this year, SailTime and Beneteau announced a partnership to offer Beneteau brand sailboats in conjunction with other brands at SailTime’s North American base locations. As part of the agreement, new Beneteau yachts will be available for SailTime’s fractional membership program for use within the fleet of SailTime bases throughout North America.
“Having Beneteau dealers able to offer the SailTime Fractional Membership Program is an opportunity for both companies,” said SailTime President Todd Hess. “Not only can the dealers now offer a pre-purchase option to sail a Beneteau before they purchase one, they can also sell additional boats into fleet for the SailTime Owner Program. This is a win-win team effort for SailTime and Beneteau in providing both organizations and respective affiliates another path for growth.”
SailTime has always been an innovator in the boating community, using an online calendar system for shared usage of vessels. The SailTime membership program began as a way to get more sailors out on the water and to offer an alternative to boat ownership. For every boat in the fleet, there are six to eight members sharing one vessel. Many members are relatively new to activity of sailing and have chose SailTime as the ideal way to learn and acquire experience.

“We are thrilled this partnership will give more people the opportunity to experience sailing on a Beneteau”, commented Laurent Fabre, president of Beneteau America. “We have incorporated unique specifications into the boats delivered to SailTime to meet the needs of their fleet. Beneteau is known worldwide for its sleek design, quality construction and innovation in the manufacturing of seaworthy sailing and power yachts. The Beneteau story began 130 years ago when Benjamin Bénéteau started building fishing trawlers in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, France. Today, the company continues to thrive under the leadership of Benjamin Bénéteau’s granddaughter, Madame Annette Bénéteau-Roux.

SailTime also offers a generous Owner Member Program where the owner receives a monthly income, as well as the benefits of membership.
Now celebrating its 14th Anniversary, the company has over twenty-eight bases in North America and seven bases in Australia.
A unique feature of the program is SailTime PLUS, where members can go sailing at base locations around the world for a significantly lower cost than traditional bareboat charter fees.
SailTime also has a significant network of sailing schools, via bases that are certified American Sailing Association (ASA) and Royal Yachting Association (RYA) affiliates. The instruction provided at these locations has been a key component in providing a pathway for members to achieve their goals and dreams for the sport of sailing.
