Learn to Sail From the Best

SailTime Orange County’s sailing school, the Newport Beach Sailing School, was awarded the American Sailing Association’s (ASA) Outstanding Sailing School of the Year award again this year. Schools earning this award are in the top tier of sailing education facilities in the USA. 20% of those awards were handed out the past three years to SailTime Schools!

Captain Mike Kohl has been instructing SailTime members at SailTime Orange County for the last 6+ years.  He is one of our ASA instructors who are also US Coast Guard Captains teaching for the Newport Beach Sailing School.  He won the award for the Outstanding Sailing Instructor of the Year award who has also written a very good article on Man Overboard recovery which was featured in Sailing Magazine recently. He is truly a top educator who loves to share his passion for sailing.
If you are interested in learning to sail, but you are not from Orange County, California, you can do a Learn to Sail Vacation in Newport Beach with the Newport Beach Sailing School.  The most popular course for out of town sailors and Members from other parts of the country is the 7-Day Learn to Sail Vacation; a private course for a couple or family on one of the beautiful SailTime Hunter 36 sailboats in the fleet there.  With some significant preparation before hand you can earn your ASA 101, 103 and 104 in 7 days.  The last 3 days of the course are spent out at Catalina Island, which everyone agrees is one of the top sailing destinations, surely on every sailors bucket list.
