Virginia Beach Adds More Boats

November 17, 2013: It’s been another great sailing season at SailTime Virginia Beach. Our members there, report the season starts early and ends late compared to most seasonal bases.  In addition to membership sailing, the base offers a complete compliment of ASA sailing lessons. 2014 will be the tenth year of operation in the lower Chesapeake for this base. Huzzah!

With a completely full membership and waitlist in our fleet during 2012, they looked to add new boats for the 2013 season.  At the start of 2013, on March 1, they added a blue hulled, Hunter 36,  called “Blue Moon”.  While she is a 2011, the boat was brand new and first splashed in February 2013. The owner, a boating enthusiast his whole life and a member of SailTime Virginia Beach, has taken a lot of pride in adding all the upgrades to make this boat an excellent choice for members.  Membership has been close to full on her all season.  She currently has just two positions available for membership which we expect to be sold out before the start of the 2014 season.

In late August 2013, the base added a brand new 2014 Hunter 33′, “Nautigal,” to the fleet.  The owner, another long-time SailTime Virginia Beach member, upgraded the cockpit with gorgeous teak accents.  That, combined with the extended transom design make this a cockpit you and your friends want to spend your weekends in.  There are also only 2 positions left on board this boat as well.
In September, a  Hybrid Electric Hunter 36′, “Mojito,” was added to the SailTime Virginia Beach fleet.  This boat spent the previous season in the SailTime Miami fleet before coming North.  The owners, again previous members of SailTime Virginia Beach, saw a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor with this innovative “green” boat.  The electric engine is whisper quiet so you have the silence of sailing, even when you are under motor power.  A backup Diesel generator combined with Solar Panels and a Wind Turbine make this boat the ultimate choice for multi-day trips in the Chesapeake Bay. Currently, four membership positions remain on this boat, which is expected to fill quickly as soon as the word gets out about this green goddess!
We are still looking to add a Gemini Legacy to our fleet for 2014.  This Gem will be a perfect addition to the SailTime Virginia Beach fleet offering. Come and find out why three members have purchased boats and put them into our program this past year. It is the intelligent path to boat ownership.
The base is offering a “Holiday” Special right now! Get a FREE month of membership if you join by December 31st. This is a holiday gift that keeps on giving all year long! Join by November 30th and the base will also include a $300 discount off the enrollment and  training costs.
The base currently has two sailboats for sale too. They have recently been retired from the active fleet. The 2005 Hunter 33, “Song Sung Blue” and 2006 Hunter 36, “Blue Destiny,” are currently up for sale and a great opportunity for someone looking to own a used boat on their own without the SailTime ownership program.  Song Sung Blue and Blue Destiny have been professionally maintained and owned by SailTime Virginia Beach since they were first manufactured.  They are in exceptional condition and have complete service records.
