How Does a Fractional Boating Membership Work?

You as a “Member” will select a particular boat to operate, based on size, price, and availability. You will use the same boat every time as if it were your own. In fact, many members refer to their assigned boat as “my boat,” which means they are familiar with it and take better care of it than they might in a typical bareboat charter arrangement.
Each boat has a maximum of 8 equivalent “Classic” memberships, which distributes the available time equally among Members throughout each month. You simply use the web-based calendar to select the times you want to sail, and your boat will be ready when you arrive. Once at the marina, you will inspect the boat to be sure it is ready, using the automated “Embark” system. Then go sailing, being sure to return in time to ready the boat for the next member.

SailTime membership is easy, hassle-free, and much less expensive than boat ownership!

SailTime Sailing Memberships

Membership is a great way to get on the water sailing without ownership requirements. It has no long term commitment and cost less than owning your own sailboat. You would sign up for the sailing season with benefits of SailTime Plus for a whole year. SailTime functions a lot like a sailing club with boats in the 33+ foot range.

Having a membership is the perfect way to get on the water without ownership requirements. With SailTime, there is absolutely no ownership obligations; you will never have to worry about storage in the winter, launching in the spring, or any other maintenance associated with the boats, all for less than the cost of maintaining a boat.  When you sign up for the season with SailTime Door County you receive the benefits of SailTime Plus. SailTime functions a lot like a sailing club with sailboats from both 33 to 38 feet.

SailTime Testimonial

Being the newest SailTime members, we were anxious to meet other members and local sailors.

Owners, Bill and Suzie Wons, needed to check our sailing skills before giving us free reign.

Coincidentally, the Windjammer Sailing Club, was having a cruise called, “Where the Wind Blows” August 28-September 2. We were invited to join!

Roger and I loved the friendly people, the sailing ports, and love the boat, Alissa Joy.

We feel confident we made the right decision in buying a SailTime membership and look forward to spending more time on the water in 2022.

Membership Plans

7 uses/month – The Classic Membership
is our most popular level. Sailors love this type of membership because it offers the most flexible and affordable “full time” sailing option on the water. Members get more sailing time than any other club or charter offering in the world! Not only do you have plenty of time allotted to you each month, you can collect unused time to string together a multi-day cruise. Classic Members can also jump on their boat with short notice using our “as available” 36 hour rule which waives the usage rules when you reserve your sailing time within 36 hours of your departure time.

3 uses/month – The Lite Membership is perfect for the sailor who doesn’t have much time to get on the water.  Kid’s soccer games, golf, work; weekends get overrun with responsibilities, making it hard to do what you really want to… sail!  We also find this level to be a good option for someone who wants to start sailing who isn’t sure how much time they are going to be able to devote to the water. Lite members are allocated 3 uses every month, then have the ability to buy additional time within 24 hours.

Both levels use our online scheduling system, both have access to SailTime Plus when they travel, and  both use the same well-equipped sailboats.  Choose the one that fits your lifestyle and start sailing today!
