Sailing School

Learning how to sail is about more than earning a certification at a sailing school. It’s about developing the skills, confidence, and experience to feel comfortable taking the helm and enjoying more time on the water. Seattle Yachts Sailing Academy, an American Sailing (ASA) certified affiliate sailing school in association with SailTime, provides professional sailing instruction from our sailing school base in Anacortes, Washington on Puget Sound. Whether you’re stepping aboard a sailboat for the first time, refreshing skills you learned years ago, or working toward more advanced sailing goals, we’ll help you become a safer, more knowledgeable, and more confident sailor.

Our hands-on sailing school approach puts you on the water, where you’ll learn by actually sailing. Our sailing school students  and sailing club members develop practical skills in boat handling, sail trim, docking, navigation, safety, and seamanship while gaining valuable experience on the waters surrounding Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.

Our friendly sailing school instructors are certified by the ASA and licensed as Captains by the U.S. Coast Guard. Just as importantly, they’re experienced sailors who genuinely enjoy teaching. They’ll help you progress at a comfortable pace, answer questions along the way, and give you the practical knowledge and confidence to turn “I’d love to learn to sail” into “Let’s go sailing.”
