Cruise and Learn in the British Virgin Islands – Nov 5-12, 2009

SailTime Members who are looking to go sailing in November have a new opportunity! Captain Dave Wilbar, the Manager of Sailtime Virginia Beach has chartered a new 44 foot boat and has availability for a single or a couple in one remaining cabin with private head. While the rest of the country becomes too chilly for sailing, you could be extending your season and enjoying a fun filled week in the British Virgin Islands!

Captain Wilbar can set up a lesson plan to help you reach ASA 103 and/or 104 during the week if you like. Or, just go sailing. One price covers everything but your flights to the BVI which are lower than they ever have been right now! Contact Dave now to get more information at 757-620-4042.

Imagine a week of sailing to all the best snorkel spots in the BVI as well as great food and fun times during the week long flotilla celebration that brings together SailTime Members from across the country and around the world. More than 10 boats with their crews will be participating this November.

As for Capt. Dave’s experience, his father, a WW2 Navy vet, taught him to sail when he was 7. Dave has sailed the Chesapeake Bay most of his life, lived aboard, done a couple blue water trips; most notably a 1500 hundred mile delivery from St. Augustine to St. Thomas. He holds a USCG Master license with a 50 ton inland, and OUPV near coastal rating. He developed the ASA Sailing program at the SailTime Sailing Center, in Norfolk, Virginia. SailTime Sailing Center was an “Outstanding School of the Year” in 2007. Capt. Dave has been aboard the Sailtime Flotilla lead boat three times, and the training captain during his last two trips.
