SailTime in Detroit also offers SeaHawk Sailing School, which is an American Sailing Association certified training facility. Most of the instructors are also USCG Captains and all have a wide variety of experience and training. Sailing lesson classes begin in May and run through September with the ASA 101 and 103 classes offered both on weekends and during the week.
SeaHawk Sailing School provides training on both Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair. Our Port Sanilac facility is about 30 minutes North of Port Huron, located far from the noise and stress of urban locations. It’s located on Lake Huron with the beautiful Georgian Bay, North Channel and other Canadian waters only hours away. For those looking for convenience and close proximity to the metro Detroit area, our Lake St. Clair training takes place out of Shore Club Apartments and Marina, just off of the Nautical Mile in St. Clair Shores, minutes away from I-94 and I-696.
ASA 101 Basic Keelboat is a 2 day beginners course which lists at $450. The follow-on course, ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising is also a 2 day course which lists for $450. Most of our students take the “Learn2Sail” package (ASA 101-103 Combo) course which covers the same subject matter in 4 days with a price of $695. Spouses and partners taking the class(es) at the same time receive an additional 10% discount.
This sailing season SailTime Detroit is rolling back monthly membership sailing fees to 2006 prices. If you become a member before the end of May you can save hundreds of dollars and enjoy a great sailing season in the Detroit metro region!
