San Francisco, CA — SailTime San Francisco, a leader in fractional sailing memberships, yacht sales, and fleet management, proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary with exciting new leadership. Industry veteran Mollie Hagar and her husband, Marin County firefighter Bjorn Anderson, have officially taken the helm as base owners.
Mollie has been deeply involved in the sailing industry for over 20 years, spending a decade as school director and later general manager of a prominent Bay Area sailing club. Her extensive experience in training, operations, and fleet management positions her perfectly to lead SailTime San Francisco into its next chapter.
“SailTime is such a tried and true model,” said Mollie. “It gives people access to beautiful boats without the full burden of ownership. In a world-class sailing destination like San Francisco, it’s a perfect match.”
SailTime San Francisco currently operates out of two stunning locations—Pier 39 in Downtown San Francisco and Emery Cove Marina in the East Bay—and plans are underway to expand to South Beach Harbor in partnership with a local yacht club.
Mollie and Bjorn’s relationship with SailTime began when they purchased a new Hanse 458 and joined SailTime San Francisco as owner-members. Their yacht, Rocketship, stationed at Pier 39, quickly became a member favorite for overnight cruising with its spacious layout, two cabins, and twin heads.
“Being owner-members ourselves gave us a unique perspective. We got to experience the model from the inside out and truly believe in what SailTime stands for,” said Bjorn. “We’re thrilled to now be part of helping others discover sailing.”
Mollie, who began her career in sailing through community sailing programs and yacht club administration, says she’s always loved helping people get on the water. Together with Bjorn, they share a vision of building community through sailing.
What’s Next for SailTime San Francisco
With seven premium sailboats—Beneteau, Jeanneau, and Hanse— currently in the fleet, ranging from 30 to 46 feet—the base is thriving.
Looking ahead, Mollie and Bjorn plan to enhance the member experience with social events like monthly speaker series at local yacht clubs and member “cruise outs” to popular Bay Area sailing destinations. Their American Sailing Association certified sailing school continues to offer top-tier instruction with a range of courses from ASA 101 to ASA 104 and beyond, including custom packages, clinics and adventures.
“Sailing in the Bay is unbeatable,” said Mollie. “There are microclimates that provide year-round conditions, iconic sights like the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, and endless destinations like Angel Island and Sausalito are just a sail away.”
Celebrating 20 Years of Sailing Access
As SailTime San Francisco marks two decades of making sailing more accessible, Mollie and Bjorn are excited to carry the torch forward. “We have a growth mindset,” Bjorn shared. “We want to expand the fleet, introduce PowerTime, and create more social opportunities for our members. We feel incredibly lucky to be a part of this amazing community.”
Whether you’re new to sailing, looking to upsize, or simply want to explore the Bay without full boat ownership, SailTime San Francisco is ready to welcome you aboard.
